The Grand Chatsworth House

MEAT LOAF IN SHEFFIELD!




Hard rock musician Meat Loaf is playing at the Motorpoint Arena, so if you’re up for a head-banging, foot-stomping, mind-blowing trip down memory lane, book your tickets.

You can’t beat ‘Bat Out of Hell’ for an all time sing-along accompanied with some monstrous air guitar and Meat Loaf will surely rock the Arena.  He’s been playing to audiences for over 35 years, selling 43 million copies of the Bat Out of Hell album trilogy and acted his way through  50 films including The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Fight Club and will surely go down in entertainment history as one of the all time greats.

Half Term Fun at Chatsworth



This week from 10.30am - 4.30pm there’s a chance for children to have a whole heap of fun at Chatsworth as the farmyard and adventure playground will be open for the school holidays.

This year's theme is the Wild West and along  with the usual free animal handling sessions and 'Meet the animals' talks, keep your eye out for the trail of wild west themed pictures around the farmyard. You can take part in craft activities in the Oak Barn, try your hand in our Tin Can Alley, and take a ride on a horse-drawn wagon.

Activities are free, but some take place at certain times of the day and the wagon ride may be weather-dependent. Please check the 'What's on Today' board in the farmyard for the day's details.  The horse-drawn wagon is on from 18-22 February.  Cost is £6 per person.

Jazz it up this Friday




Multi award-winning jazz sensation Empirical are a group of four young, British musicians who in a few years have earned a place as one of jazz’s most exciting young bands.  They’ve scooped numerous awards including the 2010 MOBO for best jazz act and Jazzwise and Mojo albums of the year.  Each member contributes equally to the group sound giving Empirical their own distinct sound of jazz. In a few short years they’ve carved out a place as one of jazz’s most exciting young bands. Numerous awards including the 2010 MOBO for best jazz act and Jazzwise and Mojo albums of the year.

The group consists of; Nathaniel Facey - alto sax, Tom Farmer - double bass, Shaney Forbes – drums and Lewis Wright – vibraphone.  Together they expand on the traditions of jazz and perform compositions and improvisations taking influence from the world around them. 

Empirical has been presenting PROJECTS, performances and recordings since 2007. The debut ‘Empirical’ and the 2009 release ‘Out ‘n’ In’ have been extensively toured throughout the jazz circuit in the UK and abroad.
